2020 Just Keeps Breaking My Heart...
This morning I received notice of your passing and I found myself at my desk bawling, as I do almost everyday...
Larry Bland ...THE LARRY BLAND !
I grew up sitting in the back row of your rehearsals with The Volunteer Choir and I’ll never forget the day, probably about my 3rd time in your presence, you stopped rehearsal and looked over at me and asked my name and who I belonged to! I was so scared because I was the only child there and wasn’t sure if I was supposed to be...you then went on to welcome me and talked about how good it was to have me there listening, watching, and learning because not many kids would do so. You made it a point to speak to me every time thereafter, just to simply check in, see how I was doing in life/school, and to tell me you loved me and were praying for me! Little do you know, you were a blessing to me! I was fascinated by you, in awe, and a little star struck to be in your presence. Everyone knows I think the world of Lerita Carter, I mean I was glued to her side! But to know my choir director’s choir director was mind blowing to me lol. I attended so many rehearsals and performances that I knew all the words, notes, and choreography. All I was missing were the outfits & accessories. Whether it was a rehearsal, performance, or church service...you and the Volunteer Choir ministered to me, and unbeknownst to you, on some of my darkest days! You were and are a phenomenal Man of God and I’m grateful to have known you. Heaven has gained a True Gem! My condolences to The Family, to the members of The Volunteer Choir, and To Richmond as we have lost a Great in the Gospel Community! “Well Done Thy Good And Faithful Servant” Rest In Eternal Peace Mr. Bland ❤
